Privacy
The short version: Fade Readers collects nothing about you or your child. There is nothing to opt out of.
- No accounts, sign-ups, names, emails or passwords
- No advertising, and no advertising networks in the app
- No analytics, tracking pixels, cookies or third-party SDKs
- No recordings, camera or microphone access
- No location data
- Nothing about your child's reading is sent anywhere — not to us, not to anyone
What actually happens when you use it
Fade Readers is a web app. It runs on your device, in your browser. The books, the letters and the letter sounds are all downloaded once and kept on the device so it works without wifi. Nothing is uploaded back.
The app does not track which books you open, how long you read, or how a child is doing. That information isn't stored on the device either — it simply isn't kept.
The one third party
The app loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Like any request to any website, that tells Google's servers your IP address and roughly what browser you're using. It does not tell them who you are, that you are using Fade Readers with a child, or anything about your reading. Google states it does not use Google Fonts requests to build advertising profiles.
That is the only request the app makes to anyone other than its own site. If you'd rather it made none at all, tell us — the fonts can be served from the app's own domain instead.
Children
Fade Readers is designed for children who cannot yet read, so children are the point of it. That is exactly why it collects nothing.
No personal information is collected from anyone, of any age, including children under 13. There is nothing to disclose to a parent, nothing to delete on request, and no way to identify a user — because no user is ever identified in the first place. This is intended to satisfy the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and the GDPR's rules on children's data, by not collecting the data any of them govern.
Deleting your data
There is none held anywhere to delete. Removing the app from your home screen, or clearing your browser's data for this site, removes the copy kept on your device.
If this ever changes
If a future version needs to store or send anything — saved progress, for example — this page will say so plainly before it ships, with the date it changed. It will never be buried in a longer document.
